Jinnah Medical College Hospital (formerly known as Medicare Hospital) has recently re-located to  Korangi Industrial area, and has been catering to the medical needs of a wide section of population for the last twenty five years. Beginning as a small clinic, it is now one of the most modern and well-equipped general hospital in Karachi.

 

At present, it has 270 beds which includes General Wards, Semi Private and Private Rooms. The services and facilities  available cover almost all disciplines of medicine.

 

A well-equipped Casualty / Emergency remains alert 24 hours, manned by staff trained  to deal all kinds of emergencies and backed up by a large team of competent and experienced consultants in all specialties. Consultants have their own consulting rooms and are available in the morning throughout the week. 

 

A complete ward is devoted to the Gynae. / Obs. Department with a fully equipped Labour Room and  a separate Operation Theatre. 

 

Another ward is reserved for Children/Peads Department. It has general beds, semi-private rooms, private rooms and an intensive care unit for pediatric cases only. A nursery with incubators and other neonatal accessories completes the list of comprehensive facilities for sick children. 

 

In-Patient care is available in the rest of the wards/rooms for general surgical, general medical, orthopedic, eye, ENT, psychiatric, dermatological, and other special cases. A 10-bedded intensive care  unit is also available for cases that need close monitoring. All beds have modern cardiac monitors, central oxygen and suction system, microprocessor, electronic respirator, defibrillators, electronically controlled infusion pumps, and to top it all, a well trained, enthusiastic, and pleasant medical and para medical staff. An experienced and highly qualified consultant anesthesiologist is in-charge of ICU and available throughout the day and on call at night  to provide back up care. The hospital has a comprehensive diagnostic department, having a well-equipped modern laboratory with blood banking and radiology department available for 24 hours service. A fully stocked 24 hours pharmacy operates inside the hospital.

 

The hospital has four modern and fully equipped Operation Theatres which cater to the general surgeries, orthopedics, eye, ENT, Gynae. / Obs. and other cases.

 

A team of full time doctors in the departments of Surgery, Peads, Gynae and medicine care are working to support these facilities.

 

All these modern facilities are available at a very competitive rate, unmatched by any other institution of such standing. 

 

Jinnah Medical College Hospital provides subsidized hospitalization, nursing, general medical and specialist services to all patients. 'Out-Patient are charged Rs. 20/=  for providing two days medicines. Admitted patients are expected to bear the cost of medicines, diagnostic tests and materials used in the operation theatre. Four out of ten patients cannot afford to pay anything. The annual subsidy of Rs.8.4million provided by the S.M.SOHAIL TRUST is not sufficient to meet the running cost of the hospital. The students and faculty of Jinnah Medical and Dental  College have established a patient welfare association in the name of  CARE' which receives donation from individuals and firms to provide for medicines and supplies to patients. The Trust has also established a ZAKAT fund.
