Principal’s Message

Jinnah College of Physical Therapy (JCPT) was established in 2018 at Shaheed-e-Millat road and started its first batch in 2019 with the affiliation of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).

It consists of highly qualified and passionate faculty to facilitate its students and prepare the competent & skilled physical therapists. The teaching focuses on holistic development of students which includes not only academics but also their clinical skills. It also inculcates a positive civic sense among students by promoting several social activities such as blood donation drives, sharing the materials to help the less fortunate people. JCPT also motivates its students to lead a healthy life by participating in extra-curricular activities including sports, debate competition, arts & culture and fun activities. It consists of well-equipped labs for diversified learning of concepts and practical. There is a student friendly environment at the campus that helps the students in learning new knowledge with great zeal to bring the patients back to optimal health.

Jinnah College of Physical Therapy (JCPT) was established and affiliated with Jinnah Sindh Medical University JSMU in 2018 to provide innovative educational environment which focuses on problem solving and concept development. Exposure to in-depth knowledge of basic and clinical sciences relevant to rehabilitation will prepare competent professionals who fulfill their professional responsibilities as well as serve the community with devotion and brilliance.

To be a recognized center of excellence in the field of physical therapy, to discover new knowledge, and prepare highly skilled & caring physical therapists to serve the needs of our National and International communities with devotion and excellence.

Mission

To pursue academic excellence in preparing competent physical therapists through innovative high-quality clinical teaching programs, with continuous improvement of quality standard at par with International standards, fostering evidence-based health care research and promoting values of learning, leadership, service and public engagement.

DPT-Doctor Of Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is a dynamic profession. DPT is a 5-year program focusing on treatment through assessment, management and rehabilitation of patient using various therapeutic measures.

Physical therapists are recognized by health-care professionals as the practitioners of choice with their role in diagnosis, prognosis, intervention & prevention of impairments, functional limitations, & disabilities related to movement, function & health.

Our DPT program follows Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized curriculum

Program Objectives

Graduates of the DPT program will:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of basic and clinical sciences relevant to physical therapy, both in their fundamental context and in their application to the discipline of physical therapy.
  • Demonstrate mastery of entry level professional clinical skills. Provision of these services is based on the best available evidence and includes physical therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, prevention activities, wellness initiatives and appropriate health care utilization.
  • Demonstrate behaviors of a scholarly clinician by developing and utilizing the process of critical thinking and inquiry, particularly focused on improvement of the practice of physical therapy and delivery of health care.
  • Demonstrate leadership, management, and communication skills to effectively participate in physical therapy practice as part of a health care team.
  • Understand, correlate and apply theoretical foundations of knowledge to the practice of physical therapy; evaluate and clarify new or evolving theories relevant to physical therapy.
  • Engage in reflective practice through sound clinical decision making, critical self-assessment and commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Be prepared to influence development of human health care regulations and policies that are consistent with the needs of patients and society.
  • Demonstrate the professional and social skills required to adapt to changing health care environments to effectively provide physical therapy care.
  • Incorporate and demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviors to all persons without discrimination.

Program Learning Outcomes

The purpose of the DPT program is to prepare highly competent physical therapists who will:

  • Serve as responsible members in the professional community and serve humanity.
  • Identify researchable problems, advocate and participate in research, and incorporate research findings into clinical practice.
  • Understand and place in context the social, economic and cultural issues of practice and effectively advocate for changes in policy.
  • Correlate theory with practice to think creatively about, react to, adapt or shape new practice environments.
  • Participate in and provide education for communities, patients, peers and students.

Career Prospects

Physical Therapists (PT) practice in clinical or hospital settings as well as provide home- based physical therapy services. They can pursue their higher education in MS/MPhil/PhD or pursue their career in clinical, academics (teaching) or research.

PT consult in specialized areas such as musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, integumentary, sports, geriatric, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecological physical therapy.

Fee Policy

  • The fee letter along with vouchers will be issued by the Accounts Department. Student Affairs will inform all students regarding fee payment one week before class commencement.
  • The semester fee will be due within 10 days from the issuance of the fee letter.
  • The examination fee will be charged at the start of each semester.
  • Tuition fee will be paid in full.
  • Attendance will not be marked of those students who fail to submit their fees within the deadline and student will not be allowed to sit in examinations.
  • After paying the fee voucher, student will email the paid fee voucher to saoffice@jmc.edu.pk
  • A Late Surcharge of 3% will be charged after the due date for 15 working days and 5% after the due date 16th working day onwards.
  • Scholarships will be decided by the Scholarship Committee. All students will be informed in writing of decision on their application and a summary of awards will be given to the Accounts Department. If any student has paid full fees before the scholarship awards are decided, then the extra fee will be adjusted in the next semester fees.
  • For Scholarships awarded at the time of Admission for First Year, Semester 1, attendance and results of Semester 1 will be reviewed for renewal of Semester 2 Scholarship. First Year students who did not apply for scholarship at time of admission, may apply for Semester 2 scholarship award at the end of Semester 1.
  • Scholarships will be awarded once a year to be applied to both semesters.
  • Students must apply for renewal or new scholarship at the end of each even numbered semester so decisions can be made before the new Academic Year starts. Decisions will be made on the basis of merit (80% minimum attendance and passing all exams in previous Academic Year) and demonstration of financial need.
  • Tuition fees are subject to yearly revision depending on inflation and cost of living index.

Admission Criteria

  • Pre-Medical 60% or equivalent of Higher Secondary School Certification (HEC).
  • British Advanced Level Certification with Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The score should be over 60% (Pre-Medical) in the IBCC Equivalence.
  • Equivalence as determined by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) is required for all Non-Pakistan Boards of Education (www.ibcc.edu.pk)
