S.M. SOHAIL TRUST

S.M. Sohail Trust is named after a legal luminary of Karachi, who was an active participant in the freedom movement as President of Provincial Muslim League and also President of Bihar Relief Fund. After 1947, he became Secretary of the Pakistan Bar Council, founding Managing Director of Karachi Co-operative Housing Union and Chairman Public Accounts Committee of West Pakistan Assembly. He was an ardent advocate of education and founded Sharfabad English School.
His son, Professor Dr. Syed Tariq Sohail, an eminent Psychiatrist, Educationist and Civil Society Activist, inherited Mr. S. M. Sohail’s passion for education. He established the S.M. Sohail Trust in 1996, which owns Jinnah Medical and Dental College and the attached teaching Hospitals: Sohail Trust Hospital, Medicare Dental Hospital and Medicare Cardiac & General Hospital.

Medicare School Of Nursing

In 1997, the Trust established the School of Nursing at Medicare Hospital, which has consistently shown good results in board examinations.

Jinnah Medical & Dental College

In 1998, the Trust established Jinnah Medical College, admitting its first batch of MBBS students. In 1999, Jinnah College of Dentistry was opened and admitted its first batch of BDS students.

Medicare Dental Hospital

The trust established Medicare Dental Hospital in 2000. The hospital is equipped with 75 dental chairs. With eight clinical departments including Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Operative Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontology, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthetic Dentistry and Implantology. The hospital provides treatment at affordable prices under the supervision of qualified dental faculty. All dental treatments ranging from scaling & polishing to dental implants are done under one roof. We strive to maintain the excellence in clinical dentistry while proving service to the community.

Sohail Trust Hospital

 The Trust built a teaching Hospital in the Korangi Industrial Area for low-income residents. This not-for-profit Hospital is ideal for training of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The JMCH Outpatient Department opened to the public in 2002. Inpatient services were available from April 2003.

Primary Health Care Center

In 2004, the Trust established a Primary Health Care Center in a katchi abadi in Landhi for outreach services to a disadvantaged community lacking access to good quality health services. This provides a firm basis for community health services, as community oriented medical education (COME) is an important part of the Mission Statement.

Jinnah College Of Nursing

The Trust established Jinnah College of Nursing in 2009.

Medicare Cardiac & General Hospital

 A state of the art teaching Hospital at Shaheed-e-Millat Campus. The Hospital has 120 beds, providing the entire range of cardio vascular and surgery services, including 24-hour Emergency, Angiography, Angioplasty and Cardiac Surgery with ICU and CCU. This will provide a new dimension for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students as they have the privilege of being exposed to a modern, high-tech hospital in the heart of the city.
